Copa residents flock to give to needy

Some of the many donations collected

It was all systems go at the Copacabana beach front shops last weekend, December 10 and 11, as residents flocked to contribute to Christmas hampers for the needy.

The collection, organised by the Navy Veterans’ Welfare Association, saw scores of families contribute new toys, games, makeup, beautiful handbags and lots of food items.

Spokesperson Roque Hammal said all the donated goods were delivered to the Salvation Army, Erina Corps, at Green Point on December 12 for distribution to those less fortunate than others.

“It was wonderful chatting to such giving caring people – thank you to everyone who gave willingly,” Hammal said.
