Catch Me If You Can showcases Palm Studios students

Palm Studios presented its production of Catch Me If You Can at the Red Tree Theatre, Tuggerah, last week, showcasing its the Diploma of Musical Theatre, Certificate IV in Musical Theatre and Performing Arts college students.

Directed by Derek Walker, the musical featured an extremely talented cast, with main characters played by Finn Johnson, Sam Zovic and Tara Thompson.

Johnson, who played Frank Abagnale Jr in the show, completed a Diploma of Musical Theatre.

“I started musical theatre six years ago,” he said.

“I love the skills, good friendships and new opportunities the Diploma of Musical Theatre offers me.”

Triple threat Thompson, who played Frank’s true love Brenda Strong, is studying for her Certificate IV in Musical Theatre.

“As a little girl I was always inspired by musical theatre,” she said.

“Palm Studios allowed a hands-on experience and wasn’t like anything I’ve seen before.

“My next step is finding myself and Palm Studios has been amazing at helping me with that.

“I’m excited to find new opportunities in the future.”

Zovic, who played Agent Carl Hanratty, said there was a booming arts industry on the Central Coast.

“I’ve grown up in theatre for the majority of my life,” he said.

“I was trying to find new opportunities on the Coast and I’m really fortunate that Palm Studios was there.

“Not only was the Diploma of Musical Theatre an amazing experience, it provided a friendly environment and the perfect next step for my musical theatre journey.”

Managing Carley Edmonds said Palm Studios is proud to be delivering quality performing arts education on the Central Coast.

“Our aim is to decrease the number of Central Coast performing arts students having to commute to Sydney for quality training,” she said.

Member for Gosford, Liesl Tesch, said it was amazing to see the high calibre of talent on the Central Coast.”

“Programs like those offered by Palm Studios provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for young people on the Central Coast,” she said.

“I believe in the arts sector.

“Labor has a leader in Anthony Albanese who respects and values the work of artists.”
