Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) has raised more than $25,000 through the Dry July fundraiser.

CCLHD Acting Manager Carer Support, Tia Covi, said the money would be used to fund CoastCanCare wellness and support programs for Central Coast cancer patients as well as their families and carers.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and donated to Dry July this year,” she said.

“The money raised will go to funding skilled external therapists to facilitate eight-week wellness programs including art therapy, drumming, yoga and meditation, as well as self-care and legal and financial workshops for locals affected by cancer.

“These programs not only provide an opportunity for people living with cancer, their carers, family and friends to access these free therapies, they also provide access to crucial information about local supports and services and they connect people with each other to enable them to promote their own health and wellbeing.

“CoastCanCare is so much more than a one to two hour wellness program; it is the epitome of holistic patient and carer centred care.”

It’s not too late for members of the community to donate.

Dry July contributions will still be accepted until the end of August and can be made at https://www.dryjuly.com/bene…/centralcoastlhd-coastcancare.

In recognition of Dry July, artwork created by CoastCanCare art therapy patients, representing their cancer journeys, was displayed in Gosford Hospital.
