NSW SES evacuation warning for lower Hawkesbury

The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting major flooding along the Hawkesbury River with an increase of predicted heights released at 3.30pm today.

As a result, residents and visitors to these areas should take action now to prepare for flood impacts.

The NSW SES is advising residents and visitors in low lying areas of the following locations that they should relocate to higher ground now due to possible inundation and to avoid isolation.

These areas include: Gunderman, Laughtondale, Singletons Mill, Spencer, Lower Mangrove, Greengrove areas, Marlow, Wendoree and Bar Point.

Roads in the area will close over the coming hours/day and later evacuation may not be possible.

Low lying properties will experience impacts due to flash flooding and/or riverine flooding.

Storm and flood impacts may interrupt essential services such as electricity, phones, internet, water and sewerage.

People in these areas need to closely monitor weather and road closures and make informed decisions early based on individual circumstances.

A Flood Evacuation Order (advice to leave immediately) will be issued by the NSW SES if/when it is identified evacuations are essential for safety.

Please follow the instruction of the NSW SES at that time.

An evacuation center will be open if a Flood Evacuation Order is released.
