BWSC students learn mental health strategies

Students at Brisbane Water Secondary College (BWSC) Woy Woy will participate in a mental health program this term in collaboration with community partners Headspace and CatholicCare.

The six-week Healthy Young Men and Healthy Young Women program will cover topics surrounding social media, mental health and healthy relationships.

“These young men and women are given tools they can use every day to support them in being the best they can be, including mental health strategies, active bystander tools and how to challenge gender stereotypes,” Co-creator and co-facilitator, Danielle Habib, said.

The program also arms students with the strategies and language they need to be positive role models in our community.

“It’s been a great opportunity to work with young men [and] women in schools on important issues around mental health and healthy relationships,” Co-creator and co-facilitator, Silas Pollard, said.
