Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre needs donations

Centre Director Leanne Clarke with candidate for Robertson, Gordon Reid

Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre is calling for donations due to increased demand on its services.

The centre, which offers a range of services to the public and hosts regular breakfast clubs for local students attending the nearby high school, is in desperate need of more supplies and volunteers.

Director, Leanne Clarke, said the centre has faced immense pressure recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic and budget cuts.

“The centre will always help anyone who requires assistance,” she said.

“Due to the challenging environment, the centre has been under considerable demand and struggling with lack of volunteers and resources.

“The centre previously had a permanent youth social worker.

“Sadly, Central Coast Council stopped funding this role and consolidated it into a mobile service.

“We are always looking for volunteers to help with maintenance or receptionist duties.”

Labor Candidate for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid, donated some non-perishable food items recently and stressed the importance of supporting community organisations like the centre.

“The Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre provides critical community services and has been under incredible strain due to COVID-19,” he said.

“As a community, we must come together and support organisations such as this on the Central Coast.

“I encourage the wider community, if they can, to make a donation and help enable Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre to continue providing crucial assistance to those in need.”

Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre runs breakfast clubs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.

It accepts non-perishable items and welcomes any donations towards running its breakfast clubs.
