12-year-old girl sexually abused by a man known to her

A Lake Macquarie man faced court on July 17 following an investigation into the sexual abuse of a child.

In November 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following a report that a 12-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her.

Following extensive inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested by investigators at Wyong Police Station about 4:30pm on Thursday, July 16.

He was charged with seven counts of have sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14.

Police will allege in court that the man provided the girl with prohibited drugs before having sexual intercourse with her on several occasions over a four-day period in September 2019.

He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court the following day.
