A joint rescue operation to recover a donkey trapped in thick mud in a paddock at Gosford has been successful.
Specialist Fire and Rescue NSW crews from the Gosford and Kariong units were tasked to assist the animal which had been stuck in the mud for an undisclosed period of time.
With support from the Volunteer Rescue Association, the operation commenced, with crews using slings to pull the donkey free before giving the exhausted animal a safe patch of dry land to rest on and await a veterinary inspection.
