A report on asbestos at Wamberal and Terrigal Beaches was due back to Central Coast Councillors on May 14 but has not yet found its way back onto the agenda.
In a written response to questions from Coast Community News, Central Coast Council said a suitably qualified consultant had been engaged to prepare a report considering hazards present, their risk, and appropriate measures to address and mitigate risks. “They have commenced works and already undertaken field inspections of the site as part of their engagement,” the statement said. “A report is being prepared, and although the report has not yet been received by Council, various actions required from Council’s resolution of April 23 have taken place. “Information sheets on asbestos have been distributed to residents in the Wamberal and Terrigal areas. “Council staff are continuing to monitor the beach daily, removing any material collected and disposing of it appropriately, using qualified personnel.”
