A former Narara Valley High School student, Matt Ikuvalu, made his NRL debut with the Sydney Roosters during their thrilling 16-14 victory over Wests on the first Sunday of June “We at Narara Valley High School would like to congratulate Matt for making his NRL debut,” said Principal, Mr Michael Smith.

“Graduating in 2011, Matt was always an exceptional sportsman and a well-liked member of the school community. “Since graduating, Matt has been studying at the University of Newcastle to become a primary school teacher, as well as playing first grade Rugby League for the Wyong Roos.

“We hope this is the start of a long and distinguished career in the NRL. “Well done Matt,” Mr Smith said. Matt was a Gosford Kariong junior. Ikuvalu hails from Narara and played his first four seasons of rugby league with the Storm, before being enticed away to have stints with Erina, and then Wyong.
