Shelly Beach Surf Life Saving Club’s, Bradley Woodward, will represent Australia at the 2018 Lifesaving World Championships (LWC).
Woodward was selected in the 36 competitor squad which will represent both Surf Life Saving Australia and Royal Life Saving this year. Held every two years, the International Life Saving Federation Championships showcase excellence in lifesaving sports and rescue, along with the vital role lifesavers play as an emergency service. Woodward will have to contend with competitors from around the globe, with 5,000 competitors to arrive in Adelaide, in October, to compete.
“More than 20 countries have registered so far in our Open and Youth categories. “Everywhere from South Africa, Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt to Iran, Hong Kong and Thailand. “We’ve also confi rmed the US, UK, New Zealand, and about a dozen different European nations will be entering, even land-locked Switzerland. “It’s fantastic to see such a global outpour of support,” said LWC 2018 Event Director, Ms Conny Wilson.
