The champions of the Central Coast Skateboard Series 2018 were awarded during National Youth Week at Bato Yard.
Three heats were held at Wadalba Skate Park, Umina Skate Park and Bato Yard, where young riders of all ages and abilities showed off their skills on skate, BMX, scooter or WCMX (wheelchair) for their chance to claim the Central Coast Series Champion title in the final. The winners for skate included: Under 12s champion, Logan Graffi , and runner up, Harvey Campbell; Under 16s champion, Duke Cooper and runner up, Karen Barry; Open champion, Andrew MacDougall; sponsored champion, Mitchell-Bullard, followed by runner up, Ben Field, and Women’s division champion, Zahra Johns, and runner up, Lexi Russel. Champions and runner ups of the Scooter category included: Under 12s, Joel Croan, and runner up, Riley Reid; Under 16s first place going to Brock Moore, followed by second place, Cooper Linde; Open’s champion, Travis Browne, sponsored winners, first Jack Lindsay and second Jacob Poulos, followed by Women’s champion, Tabitha Blake.
The winners of the BMX category included Under 12s champion, Ace Hendry, Under 16s champion, Coby Forrest, and sponsored success for, Michael Hodgins. Council Unit Manager Community Partnerships, Mr Glenn Cannard, said the event continues to be extremely popular, with large crowds, strong competition and a lot of fun had by all those involved. “This event gets bigger and better each year with more competitors, the use of new venues and a larger prize pool. “It is an important event run by the Council during National Youth Week, providing a great opportunity for young people on the Central Coast,” Mr Cannard said.
