A Central Coast public school principal has been ranked among the state’s best and has been awarded a scholarship to a prestigious educational institution, Harvard.
Mr Paul McDermott, the Principal of Blue Haven Public School, is one of four recipients of the 2018 Principal’s Scholarship. He is one of just two recipients from outside the Sydney metropolitan area. The highly-respected principal will travel to Harvard for a professional education program, tailor made for school leaders. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
The scholarships are an initiative of the Public Education Foundation, Teachers’ Mutual Bank and the Harvard Club of Australia. Mr McDermott and the other scholarship recipients have been described as “stand-out leaders”. “These public school principals have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, a proven record of transforming educational outcomes, and a strong capacity for leadership into the future,” said Mr David Hetherington, Executive Director of the Public Education Foundation.
