Heavy traffic proved the need for speed zone

On Wednesday, March 1, members of the Koolewong and Point Clare-Tascott Progress Association and members of the community met with Labor candidate Ms Liesl Tesch, on the corner of Takari and Brisbane Water Dve, outside Point Clare Public School, hugging the footpath for fear that we might distract drivers and cause another accident.
As speeches were in progress, it was not hard to notice how busy and noisy Brisbane Water Dve was for 10:30am.
Seemingly, a road accident on Woy Woy Rd had forced motorists to use Brisbane Water Dve, which is a frequent occurrence, now that the population is increasing on the Peninsula.
With the freight trains passing and the heavy traffic, it was hard to hear the speeches, but we are sure the message had got across of how busy the two-lane road was outside the school, and the urgent need for the request to the RMS for a 40km speed zone.
One of our members, Ms Jenny Carney, said it perfectly: “Little legs and minds deserve to be able to walk to school with safety.”
Come on, we are only talking three hours a day to save a life.
Is that too much to ask?
