St Philip’s Christian College Gosford is partnering with the Kempsey Local Area Land Council to provide its students with an opportunity for a community and cultural exchange with the Dunghutti people of the Macleay Valley.
The aim of the exchange is for the college to form an ongoing relationship with the Dunghutti people.
The trip will encourage students to become aware of Indigenous culture and to build life skills.
St Philips will run a sports clinic as part of NAIDOC Week in the heart of Kempsey, outreaching primarily to local Indigenous children.
Students will also participate in a family day, which is a large annual event to bring the Dunghutti people together.
As part of the day, St Philips students will demonstrate the benefits that can be achieved through sport to the elders of the community.
The final day of the trip will include visits to various Dunghutti cultural sites.
