Gosford Council has officially adopted the Central Coast Positive Ageing Strategy.
This is a joint project with Wyong Council to plan for and strategically respond to the region’s ageing population.
Over 2,500 older residents were actively engaged in the development of the Strategy.
The overall aim of the strategy is to support older residents to lead healthy, active and independent lives as they age, enhancing participation and quality of life.
The strategy aims to: understand the changing needs and expectations of Central Coast residents in respect to ageing; recognize the knowledge and experience of older residents and to expand opportunities for this expertise to be built on and valued; promote positive attitudes to ageing across the Central Coast; promote and develop where feasible, positive partnerships and links between the Central Coast community and other stakeholders for enhancing and building platforms for positive ageing; and develop a strategy and council action plans which address the opportunities and challenges of an ageing population on the Central Coast.
