As the Coast rang in the new year, the region’s State MPs took to social media to share messages of hope for 2024.
Member for The Entrance David Mehan welcomed the new year with a commitment to do all he can to address cost of living pressures for people on the Central Coast and to ensure Labor’s election commitments are delivered in full and on time.
“Housing and energy costs continue to be a major burden for my constituents, and I’ll be doing all I can to ensure these issues are a priority of the Minns Labor Government in NSW,” Mehan said.
“I will continue to track the delivery of Labor’s election promises in our area, in particular the start of planning for the upgrade to the next stage of the Pacific Hwy at Niagara Park and Narara (the missing link) and community consultation on the upgrade of Picnic Point playground at The Entrance.
“But what I’m most looking forward to this year will be the delivery of lifts at Tuggerah Railway Station, a project which my community has campaigned for over many years, and which is scheduled to be complete by September.”
Mehan wished all his constituents a happy new year and thanked them for their continued support.
“I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of the people of the Central Coast with my colleagues in 2024,” he said.
Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch took to Facebook on New Year’s Day to announce she was bringing in the new year “living in the best place on Earth” as she posted a picture of herself kayaking on the Brisbane Water.
“May your 2024 be filled with happiness, togetherness and contentment,” she said to residents.
Member for Wyong David Harris wished the community a prosperous 2024.
“A big shout out to our emergency workers, charity workers and volunteers who continue to support our community so well,” he said.
“Hoping people stay safe, especially around water and on roads.
“Whilst there are certainly challenges ahead, there are also great opportunities.
“Best wishes.”
Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch posted a family picture on Facebook as he looked back on a “roller coaster of a year” and sent a special message for Coast Community News readers.
“With 2023 now over, I want to wish everyone on the Central Coast a very happy new year and hoped everyone enjoyed themselves over the Christmas break,” he said.
“Whether you travelled over these holidays and explored new places or enjoyed the beauty of our region, I hope you are well rested and ready for 2024.
“While there were many ups and downs in the last year, I’m sure many of us will look back on 2023 with fond memories.
“I for one am grateful to have been re-elected as the Member for Terrigal in March 2023 and look forward to continuing to serve you and your families as the Member for Terrigal in 2024.
“This year, my priority will continue to be serving you and your families and holding the State Government to account.
“I’ll be fighting to make sure the Central Coast gets its fair share and that our region is not left behind.
“With 2024 now in full swing, there are some changes that will be affecting everyone on the Central Coast.
“This includes a cut in the Active Kids vouchers, the total scrapping of the much-needed Regional Seniors Travel Card and we could even see paid parking introduced at Wyong Hospital despite the government pledging not to (introduce it).
“While I will have more to say on this in the future, I hope everyone on the Central Coast has a very happy new year and if you have travelled for this holiday break, I wish you safe travels home.”
