Member for Robertson Gordon Reid has told Federal Parliament that the new Peninsula Medicare Urgent Care Clinic has helped take pressure off hospital emergency departments since opening in November.
He described the clinic as a “game changer”.
“The new Peninsula Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is bulk billed, open seven days a week, with extended operating hours for children and adults,” he told Parliament.
“The clinic treats walk-in patients with urgent but not life-threatening issues.
“Already my office has received several emails with positive feedback about how beneficial the new clinic is for our community.
“One piece of feedback was from a local mother whose child had been bitten by a spider; she told me that she took her child to the clinic and was able to see a doctor soon after.
“In another piece of feedback, a mother took her unwell son to the clinic and received outstanding care, all in a timely manner.
“The mother said the nurse and doctor went above and beyond and she was very satisfied with the service.”
During Question Time, Federal Health Minister Mark Butler recognised the clinic in the House of Representatives.
Butler acknowledged Reid’s hard work in advocating for the clinic and recognised the encouraging community feedback.
