The Voice nothing to be afraid of

The Voice referendum does not pit indigenous against non indigenous; it is not about retribution.

Cook was issued with the usual instructions by London to befriend the natives.

Instead, for some reason, he declared Terra Nullius – nobody lived there.

This left the whole country open to simply being taken by whomever wanted, and plenty did.

The USA, Canada, NZ, have had treaties with their First Nations people for many years – (it’s)  about time we maybe got our house in order on that too.

Given time, hopefully we will.

And nobody needs to be scared about that either.

All Australians are recognised in the Constitution except our First Nations people.

How do you account for that?

One of the big furphies of the Honourable Peter Dutton is that the Constitution has never given details.

When it was first handed down in 1901 it stated that a High Court should be enacted (with) no details.

This didn’t actually happen until October 1903.

It was the Parliament which decided how it would work and passed the legislation which allowed the High Court to exist and function.

The whole point of The Voice is to give Indigenous people something vaguely close to a fair go.

At the moment everybody else in the country gets a better go.

And the results can be seen.

The best constitutional experts in the country have said The Voice is unlikely to result in the High Court being involved.

The same scare campaign was used for the Apology.

Fact checking of the Yes and No cases is easily available on the internet.

The Yes vote fact check is short because it’s factual and truthful.

The No fact check?

Well let’s just say it’s a lot longer.

Give our First People a fair go – vote Yes.
