The sewing machines have been humming at Woy Woy CWA, with members recycling last year’s Coastal Twist Festival banners to make 180 tote bags and bunting for this year’s event.
“We are once again proud to be involved with this year’s Fair Day on Sunday, October 1,” a spokesperson said.
“We will be yarn bombing with lots of flair and colour with many treats and crafts for sale at our market stall.
“Do yourselves a favour, Coasties, and save the date.
“Last year’s event was jam-packed with music, food trucks and stalls all supporting our LGBTIQA+ community.”
Meanwhile, the club has said farewell to long-standing President, Jane Bowtell, who has been the go-to person for many years and helped Woy Woy CWA become a vibrant, busy, community-focused branch once again.
A spokesperson said Bowtell will remain a member, but needs a well-earned break to spend time with her family and very energetic two-year-old grandson.
“We wish Jane well and are pleased to welcome our new President Margy Ure who will officially take over when the Woy Woy AGM is held in October,” the spokesperson said.
“Unofficially her duties began on Wednesday, August 23, and all members warmly welcomed her into her new role and are committed to helping her maintain the branch moving forward.
“A new captain to steer the ship, with Jane as her first mate, will help see the branch remain relevant and committed to the community.”
