The Central Coast Rescue Squad will soon be the only emergency service in the region to use specialist Terra Tamer equipment during land rescues, thanks to a $6,065.40 grant from the NSW Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the Central Coast Rescue Squad provided invaluable assistance right across the region.
“These volunteers are based in Warnervale and are often the first responders to car crashes on the M1 Pacific Motorway, which is one of the busiest roads in NSW,” Crouch said.
“They answer many calls for help ranging from rescues and missing person searches to flooding.
“This new equipment will enable the squad to respond to a range of rescue operations and undertake their work in a more efficient way, potentially saving lives.”
The Terra Tamer is a wheel and platform built from titanium and stainless steel used to carry stretchers through difficult terrain.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience Steph Cooke said the Central Coast Rescue Squad was the busiest Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) squad in the state.
“I recently had the privilege of meeting the team and thanking them for their service in the face of all sorts of challenges the Central Coast has faced over the past 12 months,” Cooke said.
“I am proud to be supporting the squad with this grant.
“Their selfless commitment to the Central Coast community is a credit to both themselves and the VRA.”
