The Gosford CBD and Waterfront Advisory Committee of the Central Coast Council held its inaugural meeting on June 28, and devised a plan of action for the coming 12 months.
Mayor Jane Smith was appointed Chair of the Committee, and it agreed to add representation from the Central Coast Regional Development Corporation (CCRDC), the Central Coast Branch of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA), and Mr Gavi Duncan, from the Barang Corporation. According to the minutes from the June 28 meeting, the advisory group recommended that Council staff write to the additional representatives, inviting them to have a nonvoting representative as a regular committee member.
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment will be invited to the August 8 meeting of the committee to give an overview on the Gosford revitalisation project, including planning rules for large sites, car parking, traffic impacts and community feedback. That meeting will also discuss priority actions from the Central Coast regional plan. When the group meets again in November, it intends to have a presentation from Gosford Business Improvement District (GBID) on initiatives for the Gosford CBD. Staff from Council’s Community Partnerships will also attend to discuss future plans to get more people into the city.
In February 2019, Council’s Strategic Planning Unit will be invited to provide an overview of potential Urban Sustainability Initiatives, including safety, by design measures that could be considered in the CBD. Council’s Heritage Offi cer will provide an update on initiatives around heritage for the CBD. Relevant Council staff will also provide an update on the Regional Performing Arts Centre and Regional Library.
