The annual Family Connect Day was conducted at Wyong Police Station on Saturday, September 20, to introduce family and loved ones of the newest recruits to the challenges and opportunities of working within the NSW Police Force.
There were informative presentations from the Commander, Superintendent Chad Gillies, District Inspector A/Inspector Chris Quiring, Education Officer Sergeant Rod Gainsford, Police Chaplain Aleks Pinter, Mental Health Clinician Catherine Colvey, Detective A/Sergeant Andrew Schepis and presentations from Ian Johnstone and Mathew Guerrera from the Police Association of NSW.
The information highlighted various career streams, support services available to police and their families and provided an opportunity to ask questions of senior officers and specialist staff.
Northern Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner David Waddell, also attended to speak with the police and their families.
The Probationary Constables received their Oaths/Affirmation of Office.
Families of some of the newest and youngest police got an insight into their police work through a tour of the police station, sitting inside highway patrol cars and trying on all sorts of equipment.
