Fighting for life after serious stabbing

A 38-year-old man was rushed to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition early on Tuesday morning, May 13, after being stabbed in the carpark of a unit block at North Gosford.

Emergency services attended the scene on the corner of Gertrude St and Range Rd at about 6am and found the man with serious stab wounds to his back and upper torso and a severe laceration to his wrist.

A crime scene was established and Brisbane Water Police started searching for a man and woman who are known to the victim and alleged to be involved in the stabbing.

The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his mid-20s, about 180cm tall, of thin build, with black hair and brown eyes.

The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 20, and of thin build.

Brisbane Water Police Chief Inspector Colin Lott said in a press conference later in the morning that an altercation between three people who lived in the apartment complex broke out in the carpark.

He said that all three people involved were known to each other as they all lived in the same government housing block of units.

Chief Inspector Lott said that other neighbours around the area came out to see what was happening and saw the woman and man leaving the scene and the male victim bleeding profusely.

An investigation has commenced into the incident and police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at nsw.crimestoppers.com.au with all information managed on a confidential basis.
