International recognition for Amber Lane

Silk Lane received a silver medal

Amber Lane Distillery at Wyong Creek has added two prestigious medals to its trophy case, with major wins at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits competition.

The distillery received a gold medal for its Liquid Amber expression – an incredible result for the leading Australian sherry cask whisky, which was ranked Australia’s equal best single malt at last year’s International Wine and Spirits competition.

Amber Lane also received a silver medal for its newly released Silk Lane – the first international award for this new dram, known for its sugar and spice notes.

Silk Lane is the much anticipated little brother to Silk Road, which has been recognised with a swag of national and international gold medals,

This is Amber Lane’s third consecutive stellar year at the San Francisco awards, with nods in 2024 for its Pineau 350 (double gold medal) and Apera 100 (gold medal) and a double gold medal for its Apera 87 and gold medal for its now sold-out Silk Road in 2023.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition, now in its 25th year, is the world’s largest spirits competition, recognising the best spirits globally.

Gold medals are awarded to “exceptional spirits that are near the pinnacle of achievement”.

Amber Lane co-founder Rod Berry said the medals recognised the distillery’s ongoing commitment to excellence.

“We continue to be delighted with both the national and international recognition for our whiskies,” he said.

“We’re incredibly proud of the calibre of whisky we’re producing and these medals recognise our commitment to delivering high quality, industry-leading drams.

To have our Silk Lane recognised, just a few weeks after its commercial release, along with our much-loved Liquid Amber, is a testament to the strength of our whiskies and their worthy position among some of the world’s best drams.”

The San Francisco medals cap off a busy start to 2025 for Amber Lane, including the release of its much anticipated Silk Lane expression.

The distillery is set to celebrate the official public launch of the world’s first whisky to be aged in a Chartreuse barrel on International Chartreuse Day on May 16.

Amber Lane is now one of Australia’s most decorated whisky producers, renowned for its large premium barrels, longer maturation cycles and the careful application of principles learned from European distilling traditions.
