Chamber looks forward to roadworks on Peninsula

Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the re-election of Federal Member for Roberston Dr Gordon Reid and looks forward to seeing the fulfilment of Labor promises for the Peninsula.

“Dr Reid has been an excellent Federal Member and a strong supporter of the local business community and we are pleased that he can now continue his work in our local community,” Chamber President Matthew Wales said.

“It is extremely important that the business community has close working relationships with both State and Federal Members and that they understand our needs and concerns.

“We are especially appreciative of Dr Reid’s commitment to the $32M upgrading of the Ocean Beach Rd/Rawson Rd intersection which has been a major traffic bottleneck for many years.

“We have been assured that the funding is in place for the intersection upgrade and that works will proceed this year under the auspice of Central Coast Council.

“In addition, the $1.8M commitment to the renourishment of the Ettalong Beach foreshore east of The Box Restaurant is another important sign that Dr Reid has been listening to our concerns over the state of the beachfront.”

Wales said the renourishment works would dovetail with the State Government’s commitment to the dredging of the Ettalong Beach channel later this year and the pumping of sand onto Ettalong Beach.

“The Chamber also supports further road funding promises for the upgrade of the intersection of Empire Bay Dr and Wards Hill Rd to the tune of $15M over two years,” he said.

“We will continue to work closely with the Federal Member for Roberston over the next three years to ensure that the Peninsula business community receives as much support as possible from the Federal Government.”
