Three in court over alleged break and enter

Three men appeared in court on April 2 following an investigation into an alleged break and enter at Chittaway Bay the previous day.

At about 3.45am on April 1, a Cash Redemption Terminal (CRT) was allegedly stolen from a licenced premises on Chittaway Rd.

Police were told the CRT had been taken from the premises and placed onto a trailer being towed by a silver Toyota SUV.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District commenced inquiries into the incident.

A short time later, emergency services were called to a vehicle fire on the M1 at Ourimbah which was confirmed to be the vehicle used in the break and enter.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District attended a home on Langford Dr, Kariong, at about 8am and spoke with a man who was observed leaving the premises.

During a subsequent search of the man, officers allegedly located and seized $50,000 in cash.

The 29-year-old man was arrested along with two other men at the property, aged 26 and 29.

They were taken to Gosford Police Station.

A search warrant was simultaneously executed at the Kariong property, allegedly revealing items of interest including a money counter, tools, and safes.

Two 29-year-old men were each charged with: Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (three counts); Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company steal (two counts); Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.

One was also charged with: Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty; Deal with property proceeds of crime $100,000; and Possess prohibited drug.

The second was also charged with: Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit; Use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order; Possess housebreaking implements; and Possess prohibited drug.

The 26-year-old man was charged with two offences: Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence in company steal; and Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

All three were refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court on April 2.

Inquiries are ongoing.
