Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is urging residents to be alert for measles symptoms after a confirmed case visited several locations while infectious.
The case recently returned from South-East Asia, where measles outbreaks are ongoing.
Health authorities advise that while there is no ongoing risk at these locations, people who visited them should monitor for symptoms.
Exposure Locations and Monitoring Periods:
Tuesday 4 March 2025
- Gosford Hospital Emergency Department – 4:30 am to 4:15 pm (Monitor for symptoms until 22 March 2025)
Saturday 1 March 2025
Wamberal Beach – 1:00 pm to 3:45 pm (Monitor for symptoms until 19 March 2025)
Woolworths Erina Fair – 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm (Monitor for symptoms until 19 March 2025)
CCLHD Director of the Public Health Unit, Dr Kat Taylor, said people who visited these locations should be aware of symptoms.
“Early signs of measles include fever, runny nose, sore eyes, and a cough, followed by a red, blotchy rash that spreads from the head to the rest of the body after three to four days,” Dr Taylor said.
The illness can take up to 18 days to develop after exposure.
If symptoms appear, call ahead to your GP or hospital before visiting to avoid exposing others in waiting areas.
