STORM REPORT –
[Thursday, Jan 16, 0620 am] Emergency services and Ausgrid crews have worked tirelessly through the night responding to widespread damage caused by wild storms, including fallen trees, downed power lines, and multiple triggered alarms.
The dynamic situation continues to evolve, with further storms expected to hit the region in the coming hours. Residents are urged to stay alert and check Ausgrid’s website at ausgrid.com.au/outages for real-time updates on power restoration efforts.
Reports of power outages have poured in from numerous areas, including Niagara Park, Lisarow, Mangrove Mountain, Jilliby, Wyong, Cooranbong, Wadalba, Rocky Point, and many others.
Crews are stretched to capacity as they work through a backlog of over 20 affected substations, leaving thousands of customers without power.
In addition to power outages, the severe weather has disrupted radio services across the region.
CoastFM’s radio transmission was patchy overnight due to damage to transmission towers.
However, station management has assured listeners that normal broadcasting is expected to resume later this morning.
