A man has been charged with drink driving twice within four hours on the Central Coast.
At about 8pm on Friday, December 20, police were conducting roadside testing on The Entrance Rd at Bateau Bay, when a 24-year-old man allegedly returned a positive roadside test.
He was arrested and taken to The Entrance Police Station for a secondary test which returned an alleged reading of 0.149.
The Buff Point man had been issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear at Wyong Local Court on Monday, January 6, 2024, for the offence of mid-range PCA and his P2 licence was suspended on the spot.
At about 11.50pm the same day, police were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties southbound on the M1 at Warnervale when they saw a sedan driving northbound allegedly travelling at more than 200 km/h in a 110km/h zone.
The driver was followed to Morisset, where he was directed to stop by police activating lights and siren.
He allegedly ignored the direction and accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.
Police will allege the sedan reached speeds of up to 185km/h before road spikes were successfully deployed and it was stopped at Black Hill.
The driver was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was subjected to a second breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.162.
He has now been charged with four additional offences: drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous (second offence); police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously; drive motor vehicle while licence suspended; and drive with high-range PCA.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday, December 21.
