I enter my 92nd year of life on January 2 and wish to pass on my firm hope and reasonable expectation.
My wife and I live in a local retirement village which was described in the subtitle of a history book of the village as “just like an extended family”.
A second book is being written about that village with the reasonably justified subtitle of Just Like a Happy World Family.
A recent ABC documentary stated that the human brain (including yours and mine) is more complicated (and so has more potential) than all the computers and libraries of the world.
A key condition for an age of peace and goodwill to happen is that all people of faith or a particular way of living appreciate that their way of life mostly came about from family, society and the many stories from that society.
And so, respect for other ways of life can be given to those from different families and circumstances.
I have experienced times in my life when everyone got on well together.
My wife and I attended the week-long 2009 Parliament of all Religions in Melbourne at the newly opened Convention Centre where 6,000 people from almost all countries of the world and almost all religions and ways of life interacted without one sign or word of conflict.
Let us all give peace and goodwill another try!
