Residents of the Killcare to Wagstaffe area have become so desperate for a solution to a dangerous intersection they have appealed to the big man in red for support as Christmas draws closer.
A sign pleading for Santa’s intervention has been erected at the junction of Empire Bay Dr and Wards Hill Rd with many residents having given up on seeking help from their elected representatives.
“Despite Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid, launching a petition well over 12 months ago, which has attracted over 1000 signatures, little progress has been made,” one resident said.
“As well, not much has been heard from State Member for Terrigal, Adam Crouch.
“And the new local government councillors have barely got their feet under the desk.”
The resident says the preferred solution is a roundabout to replace the t-intersection.
“This is the most obvious approach to take to maintain traffic flow, considering the confusion of vehicle lanes, bike lanes, slip lanes, the petrol station and the dangerous and difficult task of trying to turn right onto Empire Bay Dr from Wards Hill Rd,” he said.
“Things are getting pretty desperate when a community has to ask Santa for assistance.
“So if you hear the clatter of reindeer hooves tip-tapping their way down Wards Hill Rd, it may just be Santa doing a site inspection.”
