Michael Coyle celebrates with fellow team members

Coles has celebrated the festive season by naming its 12 most popular team members of 2024, with Michael Coyle from Coles Erina among them.

The 12 were recognised for their extraordinary efforts in delivering standout service and spreading smiles across the country.

With more than 45,000 heartfelt customer comments shared through the TellColes survey this year, the supermarket honoured team members who consistently go above and beyond to create lasting impressions long after the checkout.

Coles marked the team members’ achievements with in-store celebrations alongside colleagues, customers and friends, presenting each winner with a trophy and keepsake book of customer feedback from the year as a token of appreciation for their exceptional service.

During his 17 years at Coles Erina, Coyle has become a community favourite, inspiring a Facebook page created by loyal fans and drawing queues of customers to his checkout and earning the nickname Checkout King.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised like this, especially by the customers who make every day at work so enjoyable,” he said.

“Whether it’s having a chat, sharing a smile or going the extra mile to help out, I love interacting with the community and it’s nice to know they feel the same!”

Coles Executive General Manager Supermarket Operations, Claire Lauber, said the initiative was a meaningful way to recognise all team members for their hard work.

“Our team members are the face of Coles, and their dedication to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers is something we’re incredibly proud of,” she said.

“This initiative is just one of the ways we like to show gratitude this festive season for the incredible work they do every day.

“The 12 team members are shining examples of the care, connection and commitment which represents the very best of Coles.”
