Dr Brian John Shaw of Erina has received an Order of Australia Medal in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours list for his service to Palliative Care.
Dr Shaw, who worked as a specialist anaesthetist at Gosford Hospital from 1971 to 2005, became the inaugural medical director of the Central Coast Palliative Care Service in 1985.
He retained that position until 1999, but stayed on with the service as a consultant until 2003.
He served as president of Palliative Care NSW for two years.
