Eight young people involved in the painting of a wall mural above the basketball court at PCYC Bateau Bay were presented with certificates by Tuggerah Lakes police earlier this month.
The project was a collaboration between Tuggerah Lakes police, NSW Police Force Youth Command and the PCYC, in support of the NSW Police Aboriginal Strategic Direction.
The design, preparation and creation of the mural promoted an environment of inclusion and enhanced relationships with police and PCYC.
The boys attended once a week for six weeks and, under the guidance of a local artist, they used their talents to create a fantastic mural that proudly sits above the basketball court inside the PCYC.
Chief Inspector Nicholls, Detective Inspector Dubojski and Aboriginal Community Liaison Luke Wilton presented certificates to the boys who took part in the project.
During the presentation they acknowledged Lake Munmorah High School – Gudjagng Ngrara li Ghi, NSW Police Youth Command and PCYC.
Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer Luke Wilton received a special mention for his commitment and dedication to the project.
Wilton’s positive and energetic involvement ensured this program was well received by everyone involved.
