Wyong Race Club will be hosting topflight racing on Wednesday, December 11 with their annual Magic Millions meeting.
The 2-year-old feature has produced winners that have gone on to claim the world’s richest 2-year-old race the Golden Slipper.
Wyong Race Club General Manager Greg Purcell is keen to underscore the importance the race brings to the region’s racing industry, saying,
“Every year this race meeting produces winners that have gone on to greater riches including Capitalist who not only went on to win the Golden Slipper but is also one of the Australia’s leading sires.
“Farnan won the race in 2019 before taking out the Golden Slipper. We have also had Snitzel win the race before taking out the Gold Coast Magic Millions and who just recently sired a colt out of Winx, it really is a terrific race.
“We are looking forward to Wednesday which kick starts a busy period for the Club.
The race is a boon for the quality local industry, including local owners, trainers, jockeys and upcoming apprentices.
This meeting will be followed by our Family Fun Xmas race day on Saturday December 21, New Years Eve, our inaugural stand-alone Anniversary Race Day, celebrating 150 years of Racing in the District on January 11, Saturday January 18 and another Family Fun Day on Australia Day.
Purcell is pleased to see the recent increase in attendance at the Wyong races, adding,
“It is one of the busiest periods in the Club’s history and there will be something for everyone from family activities, appearances by Santa, live music and wonderful catering.
“We are a community focused Club and of course welcome those outside the area and those who are holidaying on the Central Coast to enjoy a day at Wyong Race Club ”.
