A teenager has been charged with allegedly starting fires in bushland around Morisset on Friday night, November 1.
Lake Macquarie Police District received numerous calls at about 7pm in relation to several fires being deliberately lit in bushland between Bernie Goodwin Oval and Gibson Field.
Police located two males, an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old, in a toilet block.
As police were attempting to arrest the 18-year-old, he allegedly struck a police officer in the face.
He was conveyed to Toronto Police Station where he was charged on one count of Cause or set fire to the property of another, and one count of Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Toronto Local Court on November 12.
