Teen charged over Umina Beach offences

A teenage boy has been charged over alleged driving and property offences following a pursuit at Umina Beach in the early hours of Friday, October 11.

Brisbane Water Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Trafalgar Ave, Umina Beach at about 2am.

Police allege that the vehicle – which had been reported stolen – was used a short time earlier in two break and enter offences in which liquor businesses were rammed before alcohol was taken.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

With the assistance of PolAir, police pursued the vehicle to a Umina Beach address where the driver fled into a home.

A subsequent search of the property was undertaken, with police allegedly locating and seizing several items of interest.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged on two counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, two counts of destroy or damage property, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and never licensed person drive vehicle on road.

He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Friday, October 11 where he was granted conditional bail to appear before the same court on Friday, November 22.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
