Changed traffic conditions at Ourimbah and Rip Bridge

Maintenance work will be carried out on the Rip Bridge

Motorists are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions from next week on Maitland Bay Dr for maintenance work on Rip Bridge and Ourimbah interchange roundabouts.

Transport for NSW will carry out the work on the Rip Bridge which includes general routine maintenance and drilling work.

Work starting Monday, July 7 will be carried out from 8pm to 5am, Monday to Thursday nights and is expected to be completed in three weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic control, lane closures with stop/slow arrangements and a 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

Overnight traffic conditions will change from this weekend on the M1 Pacific Motorway to carry out maintenance work at the Ourimbah interchange roundabouts.

Concrete grooving work will be carried out to improve skid resistance at both the eastern and western roundabouts.

Work, starting on Sunday July 6 will be carried out from 8pm to 4am on Sunday to Thursday nights and is expected to last up to four weeks, weather permitting.

Work will be carried out in four stages with traffic control, lane closures, detours, alternative stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h in place as needed for the safety of workers and motorists.

The southbound on-ramp will be closed for three nights, from Sunday July 6 as part of Stage 1a works.

While the on-ramp is closed, all vehicles, including B-doubles and oversize/overmass vehicles, are advised to join the M1 from the northbound ramp, travel north to the Tuggerah Interchange, exit and re-enter the M1 via Wyong Rd and then continue south.  

Allow up to 10 minutes extra travel time.

Emergency services will be allowed through the ramp closure, but there could be short delays.  

During Stage 1a the southbound on-ramp to the M1 will be closed.

Northbound lanes on the Pacific Hwy will also need to be closed from the Ourimbah Creek Rd-Yates Rd intersection, with a contraflow in place allowing traffic in both directions to use the southbound lanes.

The westbound lanes between the Ourimbah interchange roundabouts will be closed, with a contraflow in place on the eastbound lanes allowing one lane of traffic in each direction.

Motorists wanting to travel south on the M1 will have to first head north on the Motorway and turn around at the Tuggerah Interchange.

The second phase of stage one works will see the westbound lanes between the roundabouts remain closed, with a contraflow in place on the eastbound lanes allowing one lane of traffic in each direction.

The southbound loading ramp will be open and motorists will be able to access the M1 in both directions.

Stage two will see the eastbound lanes between the roundabouts will be closed.

The westbound lanes between the roundabouts will have one lane operating in each direction.

Access to the northbound M1 on-ramp may be subject to stop-slow while work is carried out.

Alternatively, motorists wanting to head north can use Chittaway Rd-Enterprise Dr to Wyong Rd to access the Pacific Hwy or rejoin the M1.

Stage three will involve the closure of the Pacific Hwy north of the eastern roundabout.

Motorists wanting to access the Pacific Hwy between Ourimbah and Tuggerah will need to use Chittaway Rd-Enterprise Dr or the M1 and turn onto the Pacific Hwy southbound from Wyong Rd.

Stage four will see the eastbound lanes between the roundabouts closed.

The westbound lanes between the roundabouts will have one lane operating in each direction.

Motorists will be able to access the M1 in both directions.

Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. 

Emergency services will be allowed through the ramp closures but there may be short delays.
