Drugs and counterfeit currency found

A man and his passenger have dates with Wyong Local Court after their vehicle was stopped by Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol at about 6pm on Friday, June 6.

Police stopped the van, allegedly displaying unauthorised plates, on Elizabeth Bay Dr at Budgewoi.

Inquiries revealed that the 54-year-old male driver held a disqualified licence.

He was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result, before he underwent secondary testing.

Police issued a court attendance notice to appear in Wyong Local Court for driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period.

A 64-year-old male passenger in the vehicle was searched by police and allegedly found in possession of prohibited drugs, lock picks and $9,400 counterfeit currency.

He was issued a court attendance notice for possess prohibited drug, possess housebreaking implements, and possess counterfeit money and will appear before Wyong Local Court on Monday, July 23.
