Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch is calling on the NSW Government to unlock additional active recreation and public spaces on the Gosford waterfront by extending the shared pathway from Point Clare into the city.

“As our Central Coast population grows, connecting our community through active recreation links along the beautiful Brisbane Water landscape, while creating additional recreation space for our growing community, is essential,” she said.

“It is so important that as we grow, we maintain our communities’ connection to our beautiful natural environment.

“We are blessed to have stunning natural landscapes provide the backdrop of our Central Coast community, and it is critical that we maintain these links as our community expands.

“The extension of a shared path from Point Clare to Gosford along the Gosford waterfront would create a bike and walking path link along the waterfront from Woy Woy right through to Gosford, connecting our community, while unlocking vital recreation space.

“That’s why I am calling on the NSW Government to fund the extension of the shared bike path from Point Clare to Gosford along the Gosford waterfront.”

Tesch has encouraged community members to sign a petition calling for funding.

It can be signed online at https://www.liesltesch.com.au/petitions/point-clare-to-gosford-shared-waterfront-path-petition/ or in person at 71 Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy.

I’d like to see the smallest of shared paths at Summerland Point, we’ve only been asking for 20 years!

  2. Recreational elements are always welcome.. but before you spend millions on them, please fix our patchwork moonscape roads! randomly fixing patches, or stuffing potholes, only for them to resort at the first rainfall or bus driving over is just not good enough! they are a disgrace and damaging our cars daily not to mention dangerous at night!

  3. We already have a beautiful path along the water here.

The Bit that is missing is between ad-hoc park and Bunnings. We need to convince Gosford RSL to allow a path through their land and give them the rights to run a cafe right on the path. Collab with Kafisch please.

  4. As someone who frequently cycles along this pathway, extending it to Gosford is a necessary and common sense step.

Considering that there are hundreds of new homes being built in the Gosford CBD (plus the new university and library), it makes no sense for there to be no dedicated cycleway or shared path to enter Gosford from the waterfront or West Gosford.

Not only will it help locals by reducing congestion and pollution, it will also increase pedestrian/cyclist safety while making Gosford a more attractive place to live and visit.

The next step should be the removal of on-street parking along Mann Street in the CBD (or even full pedestrianisation) to allow for improved foot traffic or bike lanes. If George Street in Sydney can do it then surely Gosford can too.
