Electrify Bouddi action day cuts through confusion

Electrify Bouddi action day launch event

Change starts with local communities and Electrify Bouddi is teaming up with the boutique hotel Bells at Killcare for a free action day to show people how they can make a real difference in reducing global warming.

The community event on Saturday, May 17, will give people an opportunity to speak with local installers and suppliers of rooftop solar, household batteries and energy efficient hot water systems and watch Bells culinary director demonstrate how to cook on an energy efficient induction appliance.

Electrify Bouddi chair Mark Ellis said energy use was the largest source of greenhouse emissions in Australia.

He said individuals could help reduce their carbon footprint and save money over time by installing solar and batteries, doing some easy home improvements and buying more energy efficient appliances.

Getting started though can be overwhelming and Electrify Bouddi, a not-for-profit community association for Bouddi residents and local businesses, can help cut through the confusing offers and claims.

“Solar is a big investment and Electrify Bouddi does the leg work providing the information you need and a list of reliable local contractors,” Ellis said.

“Two of our contractors are currently offering a 10% discount on rooftop solar and household battery installations to our members and Saturday May 17 will be the last opportunity to organise a quote with this discount.

“A number of community members who have upgraded their homes will be on hand to discuss the benefits and pitfalls with former senior journalist with the ABC, Michael Troy.”

Electric vehicle owners will also be on hand with their EVs on display and will answer questions as well as the Curby soft plastics recycling people and a Service NSW representative to provide information about government grants.

Ellis said the induction cooking demonstration was also sure to be popular.

“Bells at Killcare Culinary Director Cameron Cansdell will be talking about his garden-to-plate philosophy,” he said.

“Many locals will remember Cameron from his early days at Bells.

“He has returned to the Wildflower Bar and Dining, after running well known local restaurants Bombini and Saddles at Mount White.”

The popular Bells at Killcare Boutique Hotel, Restaurant & Spa is committed to minimising environmental impact, and over the past five years has seamlessly integrated sustainable practices into daily operations to reduce their carbon footprint.

They are an eco-certified tourism operator, who proudly showcases their sustainability efforts to guests and the community by hosting informative garden tours, cultural tours and collaborating with other liked-minded tourism businesses.

Everyone is welcome to the free community event with delicious Bells snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Electrify Bouddi Action Day will be at Bells at Killcare Boutique Hotel, 107 The Scenic Rd, Killcare Heights, on Saturday, May 17, between 11am and 2:30pm
