A last-minute injury wasn’t going to stop Gosford athlete Emmy Clark from competing at the 2025 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships held in Adelaide from April 26-27.

Mum Rebecca Knowles said Emmy was unable to apply pressure to the ball of her foot and could barely walk just days before leaving for Adelaide to compete for the U13 girls.

“But Emmy and I had a fabulous time,” Knowles said.

“Emmy was chosen as head of the war cry for NSW and was also honoured to be selected as team captain for the NSW Team.

“She competed in discus on day 1 but wasn’t able to perform at her best due to her injury, which left her devastated and very disappointed with her result.

“On day two she competed in shot put.

“Due to her grit, determination and the previous day’s disappointment, she threw a huge personal best of 11.65m to land herself on the podium collecting a silver medal.

“This carnival was about accumulating points for team NSW.

“The NSW under-13s team was crowned ALAC Champion and took home the prestigious Trevor Bellingham trophy.”

Emmy said she thoroughly enjoyed participating at the championships.

“I had the best time away competing against other states and making new friends from all over Australia,” she said.

“It was an experience I will never forget and memories I will cherish forever.

“My highlight was captaining NSW to victory.”

Celebrating more than 60 years of Little Athletics Australia, the 2025 Coles Australian Little Athletics Championships saw able-bodied and multi-class athletes aged U13, U14 and U15 selected by their Member Association to represent their state compete.

More than 500 athletes competed for individual medals and team trophies.
