Military training on the Coast

During March Central Coast residents will notice an increase in military helicopter movements overhead.

Australian Defence Force (ADF) helicopters and personnel will be conducting aviation training across the Coast, as well as in the Sydney and Wollongong regions.

Training will be conducted during the day and night and involve responses to simulated threat scenarios.

The choppers will probably be noisy but the ADF says residents should not be alarmed if they see or hear military helicopters flying low over urban areas.

No live ammunition will be used during the training.

All aircraft activities are conducted within strict safety and operational guidelines.

The flying activity schedule is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control, weather and other aviation considerations.

Safety, noise management and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of Defence flying activities.

Noise disturbances will be minimised where possible and the ADF thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.

Members of the public can access further information regarding aircraft noise at https://www.defence.gov.au/aircraftnoise/, or by calling 1800 033 200.

Probably a positive move to see a military visibility on a local level.Australia has an issue with so many unsociable people resettling from so many other countries. And unfortunately the Central Coast isn’t immune from there presence. It’s a problem that goes back years and is only getting worse. The closing down of Club Troppo back in the day, more recently the shutdown of Ettalong boat ram. These are just a couple of examples of good things that Coasties have had to forsake due to tribal hostility. In combination with soaring crime and drug use,I think a Military presence here on the Coast will only be a positive thing, perhaps give law abiding locals some sense of security albeit briefly.

  2. good to see go for it

@Jarrod Peterson If crime and drug use are your concern, maybe look at the actual causes—like economic instability and a lack of social services—rather than pining for a military state to make you feel safer.

The military isn’t a neighborhood watch, and soldiers on street corners don’t fix systemic issues.

We deserve real solutions, not your barely concealed racism wrapped in bootlicking, American-style military fanfics.

  4. this is the future of life in thr west, largely due to immigration of people of a religious creed. not so much a racial problem but it appears its all part of a bigger plan. we have a great defense force
