St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Woy Woy celebrated a joyful and momentous occasion on January 24.
The church has been under the pastoral care of the Fransalians, also known as the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales, since 2016.
St. Francis de Sales, born in France in 1567, was a revered bishop of Geneva.
He struggled with a naturally bad temper through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and by practising gentleness.
His transformation earned him the title of the Gentleman Saint.
He passed away at the age of 56, leaving a legacy of humility, compassion and devotion.
His birthday was celebrated at the church, with parish priest Fr. Tim Raj joined by several other priests for the special occasion.
Also present was Rev. Fr. Brian Leo Moloney, the Dean of the Central Coast.
The celebration continued with a shared meal, bringing everyone together in joy and fellowship to mark the Feast of St. Francis de Sales and Fr. Tim’s birthday.
At. Francis de Sales’ best-known work, Introduction to the Devout Life, offers practical guidance for achieving holiness in everyday life.
He is recognised as a Doctor of the Church and serves as the patron of writers, journalists and the Catholic press.
