Community groups meet the candidates

Community groups are holding meet the candidate sessions in the lead-up to the Council elections.

1/ Mangrove Mountain and Districts Community Group will hold a Candidate’s Forum this Saturday, August 24, from 2pm-4pm in the Mangrove Mountain Public Hall. Mangrove Mountain is in the Gosford West ward.

Residents are being asked to email questions on important local matters they would like the candidates to answer.

Gosford West has 20 candidates; six in groups and two ungrouped independents.

Suburbs in the Gosford West ward include: all of the Woy Woy Peninsula but also Bar Point, Glenworth Valley, Kariong, Marlow, Mooney Mooney, Gosford, East Gosford, West Gosford and parts of Springfield.

2/ For Gosford East ward, Avoca Beach Community Association’s Meet The Candidates forum is on Monday, August 26, from 7pm at Avoca Beach Surf Club.

Suburbs in the Gosford East ward include beachside suburbs from Bouddi to Wamberal, parts of Lisarow in the north, Erina, Green Point, Kincumber, parts of Springfield.

3/ Coast Activists are holding two sessions for all candidates.
One will be held on August 28 from 7pm-9pm and a second one on September 4 during the day, 11.30am-1pm.

Both will be held at Ourimbah RSL Club.

3/ Gosford Erina Business Chamber (GEBC) in conjunction with Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Central Coast Plateau Chamber of Commerce will be hold a Candidates Forum on Thursday, August 29, from noon-2pm at the Entertainment Grounds, Racecourse Rd, Gosford.

Candidates from Gosford West and Gosford East wards have been invited to speak.

4/ ORRA (Ourimbah Region Residents Association) is holding its Candidates Forum on September 4 at 7.30pm at Sohier Oval at Ourimbah. All welcome.

Ourimbah is in the Wyong ward.

Suburbs in the ward include Wyoming, Wyongah, Watanobbi, Warnervale, Wallarah, Tuggerawong, Tacoma, parts of Somersby, and Central Mangrove, Bushells Ridge, Dooralong, Yarramalong, Palm Grove, Palmdale, Ravensdale, Rocky Point.

5/ Wagstaff to Killcare Community Association will hold a Meet the Candidates forum on Saturday, September 7 from 2pm Wagstaffe Hall.

Most of the 12 candidates from the Gosford East ward are expected to be there.

6/ Koolewong and Point Clare-Tascott Progress Association will hold its Meet the Candidates on September 12 from 7pm at Point Clare Community Hall at 49 Brisbane Water Dr, Point Clare.

The area is part of the Gosford West ward.

About 150 people attended the Peninsula Residents Association’s forum held on Thursday, August 22, at the Everglades Club.

Peninsula Residents Association candidate forum was well attended

Candidates included representatives from all grouped candidates and all but one of the ungrouped candidates from the Gosford West ward.

They faced questions from the audience on their stand on issues relevant to the Woy Woy peninsula but also wider issues such as the Wamberal Seawall, Central Coast Airport at Warnervale and the housing boom north of Wyong.
