Somersby Falls has reopened following the completion of a $2.04M upgrade.
Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the upgrade of the popular site in Brisbane Water National Park was fully funded by the previous Liberal-National Government in 2021.
“I am proud to have secured the $2.04M in funding from the former Liberal-National Government that has delivered this spectacular upgrade which will be enjoyed by thousands of people every year,” he said.
“Somersby Falls is one of the Central Coast’s most iconic and photographed locations, and these multi-million-dollar improvements will now further enhance the visitor experience for everybody.”
Crouch said that on average about 100,000 people visited Somersby Falls annually and this was sure to rise given the upgrade.
“I only expect these numbers to increase, and I want to acknowledge the great team from the National Parks and Wildlife Service delivering this truly outstanding upgrade for our community,” he said.
As part of the upgrade, works included: construction of a new carpark with additional parking capacity and accessible parking; walking tracks to link the picnic area; improved amenities with universal access; and new and improved barbecue and picnic table areas.
