Making road surfaces safer

There will be changed overnight traffic conditions from next week at eight sites across the Central Coast as Transport for NSW (TfNSW) carries out safety maintenance work.

Shotblasting work will be carried out on the road surfaces at each site, to help increase road friction during wet weather conditions and ensure the ongoing safety of motorists.

To minimise the impact to motorists, work starting Monday, June 3, will be carried out at one to three sites from 7pm to 5am each night for up to four nights, weather permitting.

The northbound carriageway of the M1 at Calga interchange will have two of three lanes closed and reduced speed limits in place.

Work at this site is scheduled to occur on the night of Wednesday, June 5.

For the safety of workers, remaining sites with one lane in each direction will have single lane, alternating traffic flow arrangements, portable traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h in place.

Those with two lanes in each direction will have single lane closures, portable traffic lights and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h in place.

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time, drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Work will be carried out at the following sites: Blackwall Rd at the intersection of Billabong St, Woy Woy; Central Coast Hwy eastbound lanes at the intersection Racecourse Rd, West Gosford; M1 Pacific Motorway, Calga; Terrigal Dr at the intersection of Serpentine Rd, Terrigal; Avoca Dr just east of the intersection at Ballorok Rd, Kincumber; Pacific Hwy northbound lanes on approach to the Ourimbah interchange; Pacific Hwy northbound lanes at the intersection of Craigie Ave and the entrance to Wyong Hospital, Kanwal; and Pacific Hwy (southbound lanes only) and Scenic Dr (westbound lanes only) intersection, Doyalson.
