Central Coast Council has completed the upgrade of the playspace at Maidens Brush Reserve, Wyoming.
An existing large octagonal swing was retained at the park.
The upgrade was achieved with $105,000 in funding from the State Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Program, promised in the lead-up to the 2023 state election.
“The renewed Maidens Brush Reserve playspace can now be enjoyed by our community and I am glad that I was able to deliver on this election commitment,” Member for The Entrance David Mehan said.
He said the funding was part of a total of $400,000 for playspace upgrades in The Entrance electorate, with the iconic Rocket Park at Long Jetty having benefited already with conservation works undertaken in late 2023.
The remaining upgrade yet to be completed is Picnic Point Playground at The Entrance which was allocated $190,000
“Central Coast Council has said the proposed design will be on public exhibition for soon for community feedback and the project is due to commence construction in July,” Mehan said.
“I look forward to seeing the final upgraded playspace at Picnic Point Playground come to fruition, an upgrade that I have been advocating for with the help of the local community for some time now.
“These playspaces play an important role in our community, encouraging families and children to keep active and enjoy the outdoors.
“Ensuring they are safe, inclusive and fit for purpose is what this funding aims to achieve.”
