A commuter train collided with a car at a railway crossing in Woy Woy on Friday evening, April 19, at approximately 6pm.
Miraculously, there were no injuries reported.
The car’s driver managed to escape just before the collision, and all train passengers remained unharmed.
Social media footage captured the train striking the car at high speed and pushing it along the tracks, to the astonishment of witnesses.
The driver, reportedly an international visitor, accidentally turned onto the railway tracks and exited the vehicle as the train neared.
This incident caused significant delays during the evening commute, prompting the introduction of bus services to substitute on the Central Coast-Newcastle route while crews worked to clear the tracks.
Transport for NSW urged travellers to postpone non-essential trips or seek alternative transportation options on Friday evening.
Late into the evening train services resumed their normal timetable.
Hi, this is the second time in the past years there has been an accident since they scraped the Woy Woy underpass in 2017.
There will only be more accidents at this dangerous intersection by train and traffic as we get more traffic coming to the area.
The works should be put back on the table as government put money in front of lives, enough of there spin on how much they doing.
When an election comes around they tell us what great things they are doing and promise the world.
Do something don’t promise it, if you can’t afford it then shut up.
override red signal stop button. Break glass push button and speak with state rail control centre. Fines apply for false alarms.
Is it time to reconsider the long outstanding plan to remove that level crossing?
